ACCESSORIES FOR COMPOUND MONOCULAR BAR LIMB MICROSCOPE
MAKER: ANDREW ROSS
c. 1844
A Wollaston type of camera lucida with the microscope fits over eyepieces instead of their removeable brass tophat
caps. This drawing instrument allows one to see the image seen in the eyepiece of the microscope to appear superimposed on a piece of paper below to make it easy to trace the image. Note how the accessory lenses, shown in the engraving to the left are turned away; the image to the right shows how the camera is used, making use of one of the accessory lenses to keep both images in focus. See the review of the use and history of the camera lucida on this site.
