'COMBINED TWEEZERS AND MAGNIFYING GLASS'
Patented by: F. J. BOEHM
c. 1903
DESCRIPTION:
This instrument is signed only with its patent date of: 'PAT. JANTH1903.' It is made of nickel-plated steel. The magnifier can be removed and rotated on its axis, allowing it to be oriented parallel to the flat of the tweezers to therefore sit flat between the two blades. The distance of the magnifier to the tweezer tip can be varied as required.
HISTORY OF THIS MICROSCOPE
This is the original form of combined tweezer and magnifying glass that is still made and sold today (2019), albeit in a slightly different configuration. The original patent describes it quite well. Several variations of this device have been made over the years. Just as when patented, one of its purported uses today, is to remove splinters.
