SIMPLE PORTABLE DISSECTING MICROSCOPE:
c. 1900
MODEL: Loupe mont e Modèle No O
MAKER: Deyrolle
DESCRIPTION:
This small student dissecting microscopE, is made of lacquered brass. It arises from a weighted round foot on a single pillar. Focus is by screwing or unscrewing the optical loupe. There is a single sided gimbaled mirror and a glass stage supported by brass. The case is no longer with my example.
HISTORY OF THE THIS MICROSCOPE
Although often attributed to a time period many years earlier, these little student dissecting microscopes, sold by Deyrolle, date to around 1900, being made from the late 19th century into the early 20th century. Another microscope sold by Deyrolle was their model D
which uses a slot in knob focusing arrangement and was sold in the USA by various retailers.
