Nosepiece analyzerWhen doing polarized light work, a polarizer is placed under the stage directing light up towards the specimen, and an analyzer is placed above the objective. This can be on the nose above the objective, slightly higher in the optical tube itself, or as an eyepiece cap analyzer over the eyepiece. This example, which is threaded to screw into the nosepiece, is designed so objectives are screwed into it from below. Alternatively, a universal quick change device for objectives which allows them to be individually centered via adapters, could be used. The knurling in the center of the analyzer casing allows rotation of the analyzer without rotating the objective. It comes with its own can, and is stored by screwing into the lid of the can. Although included in the Nelson-Curties No 1 microscope outfit, the device and can are both unsigned.
