DESCRIPTION:
This microscope arises on a single solid pillar from a flat Y shaped foot. The main body of the microscope attaches via an inclination joint at the top of the pillar. It is signed 'Varley Invent Fecit' on the stage. Varley's own description and illustrations from the Transactions of the Society of arts describes the features of this microscope better than I could.
