BAR LIMB COMPOUND MICROSCOPE-The Side Reflector

MAKER & INVENTOR: ANDREW ROSS

c. 1847

Ross Reflector

This type of stage-mounted side reflector was, according to E.M. Nelson, invented by Andrew Ross in 1836. It allows one to concentrate light on an opaque object from various directions. This example has a cover to protect the silvered surface. In use it is attached to the front of the top stage plate through holes provided both to the right and left side. It is a very well made and sturdy accessory.
