The outer dimensions of the case are about 10 X 10 X 18 inches. There is a slide-in wooden base that attaches to the foot of the microscope via 3 brass screws. The foot is held in place by 3 knurled knobs. The base has partial cutouts for the toes of the foot and a cutout to act as a pull. It is obvious this base has been repaired or modified more than once.
