DESCRIPTION:
This microscope is made of thin lacquered brass. It has a relatively high power divisible button objective which yields good images. This is screwed on to the end of the optical tube, which has a small central opening about 1 mm in diameter. It comes in a purpose-made fitted mahogany case. The microscope measures 110 mm in length at a minimum; when in focus aoubt 120 mm. The stage is about 30 mm square. The lightly stained fitted mahogany box is about 131 mm in length, 65 mm in width and 42 mm high closed.

HISTORY:
The history of this microscope is unknown to the author. But considering the thin brass used in its construction, is very likely a late 19th or early 20th century product. The button objective and the thin brass suggest it is a French product. French toy drum microscopes made of thin brass date from the late 19th century up until about 1930.
