The cabinet for this instrument is made with tongue-in-groove construction. The handle on top, lock and key are all nickel-silver. A brass name plate presumably with the owner's name, H. Ehrler
is on the front door. Fittings to hold the leather-covered box for objectives and the wooden accessory box are on the right side of the inside, and a fitting to hold the wooden slider holding the eyepieces is on the left side.
The microscope stores with its foot under two thick wooden pieces, and once in place a horizontal wooden support fits into retaining pieces on each side of the cabinet. This cabinet is very similar to Zeiss cabinets of the same time period, except for the design of the contained leather-covered case for the objectives where Zeiss used a wooden case holding cans for each objective. This microscope case has a wooden piece that fits into place from the front after the microscope is stored and serves to help prevent shifting of the microscope in the case; this is shown in the last image below.
